How to start a Blog

Who was ever like me and wanted to start your on blog so badly but just didn’t? Either you were too lazy, hadn’t found something you was truly passionate about to constantly write in the hopes of other people reading your content or simply you wasn’t ready yet.

I remember when I was studying at university and when I had just graduated loads of people would ask me if I had a blog, because having a journalism degree and starting up a blog would be an advantage for potential jobs and so forth.

However, I remember at that time not feeling like I ever wanted too. I didn’t want to start up a blog because other people told me it was the right thing to do, I wanted to start it up because it was what I WANTED TO DO.

It wasn’t until I had experienced certain things in my life and was on a journey to create the life, I wanted that I decided to pursue creating a blog when I can inspire and have an impact on young people just like me.

If you are thinking of creating a blog then you are in the right place. First, just think! Do you know what you would want your blog to be about? Would you write about something you are passionate about? Would you make it a fun and a space where you are just completely yourself? Or would it be the start of an exciting business venture? Whatever you decide the direction you would want your blog to be focused on, it is important to do it properly.

How to start a WordPress blog on Bluehost?

One of the very first things you need to do is to think about what you would want your domain name to be. The process can be quite long, especially if you want a domain name that is catchy, easy to read and something original. For me, I had several options when coming up with my domain name. I had to think about all the things that it will represent and what people will think about most when they see it.

Once you know exactly what you want your domain to be, head over to Bluehost www.bluehost.com and get started. You will get a FREE DOMAIN NAME as long as you chose the 12-month hosting option on Bluehost. There are plenty of different options, not just 12 months, but it all depends on what duration you would prefer. You also get a discounted offer if you buy at least 12 months of web hosting. Great right?

At this point, you may have a rough idea of what hosting package you would like.

  • Once you have clicked the “get started” button, click on the package you are interested in
  • Then enter your new domain name you have come up with (exciting)
  • After you have done this, enter your personal and payment information to make your purchase.
  • Finally, you will need to enter a memorable password so that you can login whenever you want.

Installing WordPress on Bluehost

Once you have set up Bluehost and want to start a blog with WordPress, your WordPress blog will be FREE. Yes, I said it, FREE! Don’t worry, Blue host will guide you through exactly what you need to do.

  • Pick a theme: this is quite important, because the right theme will be able to represent what your blog/brand looks like. There are loads of options and you can change this at any time.
  • Click on start building
  • Now, its time to choose what package you want (Business or Personal). At first, I chose personal, but because I wanted to start monetizing my blog and creating new business opportunities, the better option for me was a business account.
  • And you are now ready to go!

And just like that, you are DONE. As a beginner you may be confused about what hosting site to use – but honestly, Bluehost is one of the best out there for bloggers, especially if you plan on creating something professional.
